"Sunset Strip" and "Casting Call" are two large, framed works on paper created for the School of the Art Institute's Graduate MFA Exhibition in 2009. Vibrant and whimsical, they feature classic and familiar stories reimagined as modern-day fairytales.
Materials include gouache, ink, marker, gold leaf, collage, and watercolor on Artistico hot press paper. Each piece is floated on 2" white mat board inside a 2" white frame with plexiglass. The work hangs from two D-rings on the back. Due to the lack of crossbars on the backs of the frames combined with the use of plex instead of glass, the pieces are surprisingly light.
"Casting Call" requires at least an 8' tall ceiling (scroll down for installation shots) and is 94" x 63" - just shy of 8 feet tall and a little over 5 feet wide.
"Sunset Strip" is 63" x 94" horizontally.
